Construction Site Volunteer
volunteering
on a Habitat Construction Site
Habitat for Humanity Lakeside builds year-round, and volunteers are welcome to help with new construction or repair projects, either as an individual or group. The construction day runs from 8:30am to 3:30pm weekdays, and some Saturdays.
The day starts with a safety meeting, overview of the project/family, and instructions on the task for the day. Habitat provides the tools and materials you will need for the task that day, as well as water to stay hydrated. Lunch is on your own unless otherwise specified for the day. No construction experience is necessary for any role. We are willing to teach and work with all levels and abilities of volunteers and look forward to working with you!
All volunteers must pre-register. No walk-ups allowed.
*Age Restriction: Due to the environment on our build sites, no one under the age of 14 is allowed during active construction. Task and adult to youth ratio restrictions apply for those between 14-17 years of age. Please inquire to learn more.
A Crew Leader is willing to arrive early (8:00 a.m.) to learn the task for the day from our Construction Manager and then lead/teach a small group of other volunteers during the day. We are happy to teach you skills if you are willing to lead or teach others. This position requires orientation and training.
Lot Maintenance
Do you enjoy yard work or shoveling? When you adopt a lot, we ask you to help maintain the lot by checking in once per month to pick up any garbage or debris, help with shoveling the sidewalk when it snows in the winter months, and raking the lawn once in the spring and once in the fall. You can choose to adopt a lot for a full year or a specific season.
Photographer
We are seeking individuals who have experience and access to a camera to take photos on our build sites. We want to capture group photos, individuals in action and the progress on our homes and repairs.
